FAQ

What people ask us

How do I keep ants, roaches and spiders out of my house?

Start with the basics. Wipe up crumbs, store food in sealed containers, and take out trash often. Fix leaky pipes, since pests love moisture. Seal small gaps around doors, windows and pipes. In humid places like the West Palm Beach area, a dehumidifier or good airflow helps too. Trim shrubs so they do not touch the walls. These steps lower the odds, but no home is ever fully pest-proof.

Can I get rid of pests myself, or do I need a professional?

Take a breath, because the answer depends on the pest. A few ants in the kitchen or a single spider can often be handled with cleaning, baits and sealing gaps. Termites, rats, bed bugs and large roach problems are different. They hide inside walls and spread fast. Store sprays rarely reach the source. A provider has the tools, training and treatments to deal with the whole problem. If you are unsure, getting an opinion costs nothing to consider and carries no obligation.

How do I know if I have termites?

Look for mud tubes on foundation walls, small piles of wing pieces near windows, wood that sounds hollow when tapped, or paint that bubbles for no reason. Swarms of winged insects indoors can be a sign too. Termites can be active for a long time before damage shows. If you spot any of these signs, ask a local provider for an inspection and compare what they find.

What happens during a pest control visit?

A provider usually starts by asking what you have seen and where. Then they inspect the inside and outside of your home, including the attic, garage, and crawl or utility areas. They explain what they found and suggest a plan. You should hear which products are used, how to prepare, and whether pets or children need to stay out for a while. Ask questions before you agree to anything.

How much does residential pest control cost?

Costs vary by pest, home size and how bad the problem is. In the U.S., a one-time general treatment often runs from about $100 to $300. Ongoing plans are billed monthly or quarterly. Termite and bed bug work usually costs more, often in the hundreds to several thousand dollars. Always ask for a written quote, and compare at least two so you know what is included.

Is pest treatment safe for my kids and pets?

Providers are trained to use products according to their labels, and many choose targeted baits or low-odor options. Still, ask what will be applied, where, and how long to stay out of treated areas. Cover fish tanks and put away pet bowls and toys if told to. Tell the provider about any allergies or health needs. A good provider will gladly answer these questions.

Why do I see more pests after heavy rain?

Storms push insects and rodents to look for dry shelter, and that often means your home. Warm, wet weather also helps many pests breed faster. After a big rain, check for gaps near doors and rooflines, clear clogged gutters, and keep mulch a few inches from your foundation. If the problem keeps coming back, a provider can look for the entry points.

Can I request an estimate without committing to anything?

Yes. Sending a request through Yaflower Pest Control simply starts a conversation with a provider in our network. There is no obligation to hire anyone. You can compare the plans, ask questions, and take your time to decide. Yaflower Pest Control is a referral service and does not do the work itself. The independent provider handles the visit, the pricing, and any agreement with you.
